HOUSTON, TX – Tables at the corporate offices of Coventry Homes and Plantation Homes were piled high with more than just lunches recently, as employees collected more than 300 pounds of food for the Houston Food Bank.
The food drive was held during an employee appreciation lunch at the corporate offices of McGuyer Homebuilders, Inc., (MHI), the parent company of both Coventry Homes and Plantation Homes.
“Our employees have a lot of love for their work and for the Houston area, volunteering hundreds of hours of their time for such projects as Habitat for Humanity and, most recently, HomeAid Houston,” said James Miller, MHI region president. “This was an easy outreach effort that will have considerable impact.”
The Houston Food Bank is the nation’s largest food bank, feeding 800,000 people each year through its network of nearly 600 hunger relief charities in 18 southeast Texas counties. The food bank provides 59 million meals to food pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers and other agencies each year and has been named a top charity in Texas by Charity Navigator for financial performance and accountability. The organization hopes to provide 100 million meals annually by 2018.
Celebrating 25 years of building homes in Texas, Coventry Homes and Plantation Homes offer designs in more than 40 Houston-area locations near employment centers and popular shopping and entertainment destinations.
